Planning a Successful Christmas 'Do'
Hopefully we can all say that we have survived our Christmas 'do' with our career and our dignity intact. It is something of a contradiction that we often leave the organisation of these events to whomever steps up to the plate rather than treating it as a bona fide corporate event and affording it the relevant attention.
The Christmas do will often be the only time in the year that all the people within your business get together socially and not only that, there is a very real chance that those people may well overindulge - sometimes in more ways than one!
Event production is a particular skill and engaging someone to help can be beneficial in more ways than are immediately apparent. In the preparation stage it takes the stress out of your office and on the night everyone gets to relax – not forgetting that a professional will bring with them a wealth of experience in avoiding the pitfalls and dealing with the unforeseeable!

Christmas is Traditionally the Time for Experiential Marketing
Is it? Really?
Please give me a moment to explain.
Experiential marketing is all about getting people who would not usually buy your products to give them a try.
Christmas is all about receiving things that you would never buy for yourself.
Ergo Christmas is traditionally the time for experiential marketing.
So if 1% of the people who did not want ‘eau de puddle’ tried it because they received it and then bought it for themselves, what percentage of a thoughtfully targeted audience could your product appeal to?

Social Networking is a Must
Social networking is playing an ever increasing role in business and having a presence on the main sites can be as important as putting your address in the phone book was 20 years ago.
As a free shop window for products and services, social networking sites are a resource that you ignore at your peril but there are things to be aware of, not least being the fact that whatever you post has the potential to be viewed by every single person in the world. Fantastic ... or is it?
It’s a bit like the photograph of you, a little worse for wear, taken at that hilarious moment when you fell into a plant and posted by your best friend on Facebook. Brilliant! Right up to the moment that your Grans daycentre decided to have an ‘Introduction to the Internet’ day. You’ve got to love an efficient search engine.
So try and remember that whilst your customers might be earnestly searching for your latest product they probably don’t want to see a picture of your impression of a Baboon.
